A PENSIONER was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in County Limerick while out walking, Limerick Live has learned.
The man, aged in his 70s, suffered serious injuries in the road traffic incident outside Bruff.
Following a media query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson confirmed gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision at Ballygrennan, Bruff on Friday, February 27.
“The incident, involving a car and a pedestrian, occurred at approximately 7.40pm.
“The male pedestrian, aged in his 70s, was brought to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening,” said the garda spokesperson, who added that there were no other injuries reported.

Due to the seriousness of the incident, Garda Forensic Collision Investigators were tasked with carrying out a technical examination of the scene. That has been completed and the road has reopened.
“Investigations are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.
