Handover: Outgoing Limerick Chamber president Mairead Connolly, PWC, hands over the chain of office to Maria Gleeson, chief operating officer of Soul Tribe
LIMERICK Chamber has appointed Maria Gleeson, chief operating officer of marketing agency Soul Tribe as its new president.
She succeeds outgoing president Mairead Connolly, a tax partner at PwC, whose one-year term came to a close at the business group's annual general meeting.
Ms Gleeson has served on the board of Limerick Chamber since 2021 and most recently held the role of vice-president.
During this time, she has contributed to several Chamber sub-committees, including on policy, city centre.

Ms Gleeson will lead the Chamber, which is the largest business representative group in the region with 400 members.
She said: “Limerick Chamber provides a powerful platform where businesses collaborate, innovate and support one another while working collectively to shape policies that enable long-term regional prosperity and it is a privilege to take on the role of president. I am committed to building on the established legacy passed on from Mairead and our predecessors, and driving my vision as president, where Limerick Chamber will continue to be a powerful advocate, calling for action to leverage the assets in the region as a catalyst for growth."
“Together with our members, we will continue to champion policies that drive growth, support enterprise and strengthen Limerick’s position as a key engine of regional and national economic development."
It's the second appointment at Limerick Chamber in the last 30 days.
Former Absolute Hotel manager Donnacha Hurley, who joined as Chamber chief executive last month, has welcomed Ms Gleeson to the job.
"The role of president is voluntary and demands dedication, leadership, and a deep commitment to the business community. Maria has already made a significant impact through her work on the Board and as vice-president, and we are delighted to welcome her as president. With the support of our team, Board, and members, we look forward to working closely with her in the year ahead to advocate for business and strengthen a vibrant, connected, and ambitious regional business community.”
