LIMERICK produced a strong second half comeback to record a gritty 2-15 to 0-20 victory over Fermanagh in their Division 3 Allianz Football League Round 7 fixture at Mick Neville Park on Sunday afternoon.
However, despite the exciting one-point victory over their already relegated Ulster opponents, Limerick will also make the drop to Division 4 for next season.
Jimmy Lee's Limerick side produced an impressive fightback and a nine-point turnaround in the second half but it wasn't enough to prevent the Shannonsiders from making the drop for 2027.
Backed by a strong breeze, Fermanagh led by eight points at half-time – 0-14 to 1-03, before a remarkable comeback saw Limerick outscore their visitors by 1-12 to 0-06 in the second half to secure victory.
Limerick finished their league campaign on five points, a single point behind both Clare and Sligo. Sligo secured their place in Division 3 for 2027 thanks to a nail-biting 2-23 to 0-28 victory over Clare in their final round fixture.
