Coláiste Íde agus Iosef celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge with a wide range of activities throughout
the week, creating a great sense of enthusiasm for the Irish language across the school. The
celebrations began on Monday morning with an address from the Ceannaire, followed each day by a
seanfhocal an lae. First year students took part in a tráth na gceist organised and run by the
Transition Year students, while second years enjoyed a treasure hunt during class time. Senior
students had the opportunity to attend a Tae agus Plé in the kitchen on Tuesday at lunchtime, giving
them a chance to chat and practise their Irish in a relaxed setting. An art competition based on a
seanfhocal was also held, with the best entries being submitted to a national competition. The week
concluded with a Lá Glas on Friday, when students wore something green and money was collected
for the Go Green for LauraLynn initiative. Students also enjoyed a céilí during Irish class where they
learned some traditional Irish dancing, while Irish music played over the intercom at breaktime,
adding to the festive atmosphere throughout the school.
