The late David Brooke O’Carroll from Shanagolden tragically passed away following a road traffic collision last Monday
A YOUNG Limerick man who passed away following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Ardagh, County Limerick last Monday evening is being remembered with a rare honour — the retirement of his beloved blue trowel.
Tributes are pouring in for David Brooke O’Carroll who has been described by colleagues as a "great worker." The Shanagolden native and tradesmen was aged just 23 and was affectionately known locally as 'Lemon’.
Tributes have been paid to him by his employer, Foley Windows & Doors in Kilmallock. Noel Foley said David was a "good friend" and that he would "talk the hind legs off you." He worked very hard and was always trying to learn more.
Noel added that everyone from David's workplace is "heartbroken" following his tragic passing and said the business will be closed this week as they come to terms with this sudden loss. He said David loved his job and had joined the company last year. "He's going to be a huge loss as a friend and for a small company like us. It is a huge loss in every way."

David especially enjoyed plastering work and Noel explained that they are retiring his blue trowel as a mark of respect. He was also a huge motorcycle and car enthusiast.
Cllr Tom Ruddle offered his sympathies to David's family, saying that it's an "awful tragic thing to happen to any family."
David will be sadly missed by his parents Daniel and Pauline, sisters Jennifer and her partner Eddie, Michelle and her husband Alan, girlfriend Sarah and her boys Gavin and Graham, cousins Evan and Luca, nephew Jamie, niece Emma, aunts, uncles, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.
Reposing at St Senan’s Church, Shanagolden this Thursday evening, April 24 from 5pm to 7pm. Requiem Mass will take place in St Senan’s Church, Shanagolden on Friday, April 25 at 12 noon and will be live-streamed for anyone who cannot attend followed by burial afterwards in Shanagolden cemetery.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at approximately 6pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
