Deaths in Limerick - Wednesday, November 22, 2023

The death has occurred of Esther SWEENEY (née Dee) of Dromtrasna-Harnett, Abbeyfeale, Limerick.

Peacefully, in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and staff, in the presence of her family at St. John’s Hospital, Limerick, on Tuesday, 21st November 2023.

Esther, loving wife of the late Jimmy and sister of the late Peg Finnegan, Breda Roche and Joan Dee, is very sadly missed by her son Seamus, daughter Helena, daughter-in-law Fiona, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Harnett’s Funeral Home, The Square, Abbeyfeale on Thursday, 23rd November from 6.00 p.m. until 8.00 p.m.

Removal on Friday, 24th November to The Church of The Assumption, Abbeyfeale, to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11.00 a.m. Requiem Mass will be live-streamed (link below).

Funeral afterwards to Reilig Íde Naofa, Abbeyfeale.

The death has occurred of Michael POWER of Limerick City, Limerick, Mallow Street, Limerick.

Michael passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly at home, on 18th November 2023.

Predeceased by his parents Terence & Ita and brother Anthony.

Sadly missed by his loving sisters Mary & Anne, brother Joe, nephew Andrew, grandnephew Thomas, his uncles Joe Nix & James Power, aunts-in-law Chrissie, Mary & Teresa and his cousins & friends.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate, on Thursday 23rd November from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, followed by Removal to St. Saviours Dominican Church, Glentworth Street. Requiem Mass will take place on Friday 24th November at 10:30am. Burial afterwards in Mount St. Lawrence Ext. Cemetery

The death has occurred of Michael HAYES of Meelick, Clare / Kilcommon, Tipperary / Limerick.

Formerly of Kilcommon, Co. Tipperary.

Michael passed away peacefully in Milford Care Centre, on 22nd November 2023.

Predeceased by his parents Paddy & Margaret, sister Annie, brother Billy & grandnephew Tommy.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Eileen, son Eoin, daughter Niamh, grandchildren Aoibheann & Aodhán, son-in-law Paul, sister Mary, brother Pat, sisters-in law, brothers-in-law nephews, nieces, relatives, kind neighbours & friends.

Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate, Pennywell (Eircode: V94 Y2W4) on Thursday, 23rd November, from 6pm to 7.30pm. Arriving at Christ the King Church, Caherdavin (Eircode: V94 K7C3) on Friday, 24th November, for Requiem Mass at 12.30pm, followed by private Service in Shannon Crematorium.

The death has occurred of Bridget GRENNAN (née Foley) of Killiney, Dublin / Adare, Limerick.

Peacefully in her sleep, aged 85 years, in the loving care of Loughshinny Nursing Home, Skerries. Beloved wife of the late Vincent. Remembered with love and will be sadly missed by her sons James, Roger and Victor, daughter Amanda, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray on Thursday (Nov.23) from 4.30pm to 6.00pm, with prayers at 5.45pm. Requiem Mass on Friday (Nov.24) at 10.00am in the Church of the Assumption of the B.V.M., Castle Street, Dalkey, followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery.

May she rest in peace.


The death has occurred of Larry Costello of Knockacraig, Dromcollogher, Limerick.

Peacefully on 22nd of November 2023, in the loving care of the staff of St Catherine's Nursing Home, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. Predeceased by his brother Tom. Deeply regretted by his brothers Dan and John (Rathkeale), sisters Mary Glynn (South Carolina), Hannah Dawson (Birdhill), brothers-in-law Larry and Michael, sisters-in-law Kathleen and Helen, nephew and nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing at McCarthy's Funeral Home North Rd, Dromcollogher (P56T624) on Thursday 23rd of November from 6.30pm to 8pm followed by removal to St Bartholomew's Church, Dromcollogher. Requiem Mass on Friday 24th of November at 12 noon, followed by burial in local cemetery.
