GARDA negotiators, armed and uniformed officers, paramedics and firefighters all rushed to an emergency situation in a house in Limerick city on Monday after the alarm was raised after 10pm.
A section of the road in a residential area of Garryowen was closed for a number of hours. Specially trained gardai negotiated with a man, who is believed was threatening extreme violence, inside the property.
A garda spokesperson confirmed to Limerick Live that gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident of assault at a domestic residence in the Garryowen area of Limerick city on Monday night.
“A woman, aged in her 40s, received treatment for non-life threatening injuries,” said a garda spokesperson.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and conveyed to a garda station in Limerick city.
“He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.
Gardai and emergency services reopened the road and left the scene in the early hours of the morning.
