Raffaele and his father Enzo outside chipper
A BELOVED Limerick businessman Enzo Rocca has passed away.
Enzo was the owner of popular takeaway Enzo’s on William Street among others.
Enzo grew up in Rome and moved to Ireland after his brother Gino and made his way to Limerick with cousin Ernie.
At age 22, Enzo started working at Capri chipper on O’Connell Street and was followed by his brother Franco who moved to Limerick a couple years later.
Enzo met his wife Joanne Quinlivan in 1974 and moved to Newcastle West and opened his first chipper with Franco Golden Grill.
Enzo opened another chipper called Golden Grill in Tralee in 1978 and later he opened Enzo’s in Limerick city in 1984 -originally an Italian seafood restaurant but best known for its fish and chips.
Sorry to hear of the passing of Enzo Rocca of the famed Enzo’s on William Street. Italian chippers are an institution here and the community have added so much to Limerick. Enzo is pictured here with son Raffaele after their renovations in 2017. May he RIP.
