GARDAI are appealing for witnesses following a single-vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Birdhill, County Tipperary in the early hours of this Sunday morning.

A garda spokesperson said the sole occupant of the car, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

“The coroner was notified and the deceased has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

“The road remains closed at the scene, which is preserved pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are in place,” said a garda spokesperson.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R445 at Birdhill, Tipperary between 10am on the night of Saturday, November 8 and 8am this morning, Sunday, November 9 are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Nenagh garda station on 067 50450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” said the garda spokesperson.

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Toomevara, County Tipperary.

A garda spokesperson said the single-vehicle collision occurred some time between 12 midnight and 2.20am this Sunday morning, November 9.

“The sole occupant of the car, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The coroner was notified and the deceased has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road remains closed at the scene, which is preserved pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are in place,” said the garda spokesperson.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
