Rush hour traffic chaos in Limerick city after second collision

RUSH hour traffic is practically at a standstill in parts of Limerick city this Tuesday evening following two road traffic incidents.

The first took place near Our Lady of the Rosary Church, close to Union Cross, on the Ennis Road at around 2pm. It is understood a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The extent of the person's injuries are unknown at this time.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible as gardai have closed that section of the Ennis Road for a technical examination. Diversions are in place. Gardai are also directing traffic at Union Cross.

The second incident took place on the Childers Road close to the Limerick One Shopping park at around 5pm. It is believed that a motorcyclist was involved in a road traffic collision.

Emergency services including gardai, firefighters and paramedics are at the scene. Again, it is not known how badly injured the person is.

There are long tailbacks of traffic on the Childers Road, Ballysimon Road, Mulgrave Street, Roxboro Road and surrounding areas. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
