‘Time and skills’ of Limerick volunteers honoured at SuperValu Tidy Towns awards ceremony

THERE was a strong Limerick representation as the 2025 SuperValu TidyTowns regional awards were presented at a prize-giving ceremony in the Rose Hotel, Tralee, Co Kerry.
A certificate is set to hang proudly on the wall of Bruff’s Scoil Dean Cussen.
The south Limerick primary school were school award winners as the 2025 SuperValu Tidy Towns awards for the South-West and Mid-West region were presented at a prize-giving ceremony in the Rose Hotel, Tralee, Co Kerry.
Among the Limerick winners were the communities of Adare, Galbally, Castleconnell, Newcastle West, Ardpatrick, Kilmeedy and Limerick City.

In total 57 localities across the county participated in the 2025 competition.
The awards were presented by Michael Moynihan, Minister of State at the Department of Education and Maighread Cremin, community and sponsorship manager with SuperValu.
At the ceremony, Minister Moynihan congratulated all the winners and referenced the huge interest in the competition, which this year celebrates 68 years of environmental and community initiatives.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to extend congratulations on behalf of Minister Calleary and on my own behalf, to all Tidy Towns groups in the South-West and Mid-West region for your hard work and commitment. This work goes a long way to making our towns better places to live, work, visit and invest.”
He added: “In recent years, over 30,000 individuals have volunteered with the almost 1,000 active TidyTowns groups. I have the greatest respect for the volunteers here tonight from the four counties in the South-West and Mid-West region and for all the volunteers who have given of their time and skills so selflessly over the years”.
Speaking at the event, Maighread Cremin, SuperValu community and sponsorship manager said: “The extraordinary dedication shown by local volunteers year-round is inspiring, and the scale of that commitment continues to grow, with more than one million volunteer hours contributed nationally in 2025 alone.”
