RIP: Limerick deaths and funeral details, Wednesday, September 3

The death has occurred of Margaret (Peggy) Fitzgerald (née O’Connor) of Lower Coonagh and formerly of Wellfield, Garryowen, Limerick.

On Wednesday, September 3, at home. 

Beloved wife of the late Seán, and cherished mother of Leo, Margaret, Eugene, and Kieran.

Peggy will be deeply missed by her loving children, her eight cherished grandchildren John, Lorna, Edel, Niamh, Alison, Ellen, Grace and John and six great-grandsons, her sister Breeda, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, sister-in-law Hilda, brother-in-law Aidan, niece, nephews, extended family, kind neighbours and friends.

Rest In Peace

Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate on Friday, September 5, from 5-6.30pm.

Funeral arriving at Christ the King Church, Caherdavin on Saturday, September 6, for Requiem Mass at 10am.

Burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver Cemetery.

Family flowers only please.


The death has occurred of Patrick “Paddy” Nolan of Ballinacurra, Limerick.

Formerly of Howmedica and Redemptorist Oblate.

Died on Wednesday, September 3, peacefully at home.

Predeceased by his parents William and Margaret, his siblings Alfie and Marie.

Mourned by his loving family, wife Mary, sons Gerard, Kevin and Fr Brian (Redemptorist), daughters Jean and Catherine, grandchildren Kieran and Kate, son-in-law Kevin, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace

Paddy’s remains will lie in repose at The Redemptorist Church, Mount St Alphonsus on Friday, September 5, from 5pm until prayers at 6.30pm, followed by 7.15pm Mass.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, at 11.30am.

Funeral afterwards to Kilkeedy Cemetery, Ballybrown.

Funeral Mass will be streamed on www.novena.ie


The death has occurred of Barry Sweeney of Cragmore, Askeaton, Limerick

Barry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the care of Milford Hospice on Wednesday, September 3.

Predeceased by his parents Esther and Liam (Dublin).

Barry will be sadly missed by his loving wife Vera, sons Ben, Andrew and David, their partners Chante, Sorcha and Lauryn, his brothers Brian and Neil and twin sister Elaine, his sisters-in-law Helena, Patricia and Anne-Marie, his adored nieces and nephews, relatives, friends and colleagues.

May he Rest In Peace

Barry was a true gentleman who will be sorely missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all at Dr Lehane's surgery (Tarbert), St Vincents Hospital, Milford Hospice, Cup Print, Foynes Pharmacy and all of their friends and family for their kindness and support for the duration of Barry's illness.

Reposing at Kieran Madigans Funeral Home, Main Street, Askeaton (V94 K598) on Friday, September 5, from 6pm-7.30pm before removal to his home.

House is strictly private please.

Funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 6, at 12 noon sharp at Shannon Crematorium (V14 PV30).

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Milford Hospice who took exceptional care of Barry in his final days.
