Limerick village's Christmas tree festival highlights packed festive programme

Community creativity, markets, carols and sport events feature in Adare celebrations in the run up to Christmas

Limerick village's Christmas tree festival highlights packed festive programme

Adare is set to continue its festive celebrations this weekend and beyond with a series of community-focused Christmas events across the village.

One of the main highlights is the Christmas Tree Festival, which will take place in St Nicholas’ Church on Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14. The festival will showcase a wide range of creatively decorated and upcycled Christmas trees, designed by local schools, community groups, clubs, businesses and individual crafters.

Adare Cllr Bridie Collins said "the event celebrates not only Christmas tradition, but also sustainability, imagination and strong community involvement."

Festivities will extend across the weekend, with a family-friendly day including a live crib in the Village Hall, alongside a Christmas market hosted in the Treehouse at Woodlands. The market is expected to feature local traders, handmade gifts and seasonal treats, offering visitors a chance to shop local in the lead-up to Christmas.

Music and reflection will play a role later in the month, with the traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols taking place in St Nicholas’ Church on Sunday, December 21.

Sporting traditions will also feature, including a football challenge match at Manor Fields on Tuesday, December 23, followed by the annual Mick O’Neill Road Hurling event hosted by Adare GAA on St Stephen’s Day.

Cllr Collins encourages residents and visitors to support the events and enjoy the strong sense of community on display throughout the festive season.
