LIMERICK GAA secretary Mike O’Riordan has confirmed that there will be no concerts in TUS Gaelic Grounds in 2026.
The Limerick GAA headquarters have hosted concerts during the summers of 2024 and 2025 but in his report presented to Annual Convention in Ahane GAA Clubhouse on Tuesday evening, the secretary reveals that "there will be no concerts in the Gaelic Grounds in 2026”.
He has outlined a series of improvement works planned for the Ennis Road venue in the coming months.“We have awarded the contract to install a new LED floodlight system in early 2026,” he revealed.
“We installed a new alarm system at the venue last summer. The City End scoreboard will be replaced in the spring in time for the league,” he outlined.
He added: “We continued with our pitch improvements over the year”.
“We are going to go to tender to replace the PA system and erect a studio at the Caherdavin end of the grounds.”
The County Board secretary’s report also outlines plans for Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale.
“Mick Neville Park will be ready for all our county teams to utilise with replacement of the 3G pitch completed by the end of December. The next phase is to replace the floodlights with LED Lights which will commence in January.”
He explained: “The new 3G pitch is currently being installed at Mick Neville Park with the floodlights being replaced in January with LED fixings.”
“All ball stop nets were repaired this year. We hope to replace the goals in three of the pitches in 2026. We will also endeavour to go for planning to floodlight the cross pitch and the pitch in front of the old clubhouse. We will also look at terracing on the main pitch with new sub and media areas on the far side as mentioned last year.”
However, the secretary reports little movement on facilities at the Kilmallock Road Campus in Limerick city.
“The Kilmallock Road Campus project has been at a standstill with little or no engagement from the Council. We will engage with them early in the New Year to seek a pathway going forward. This centrally located venue would make an ideal base for Coiste na nÓg for their games programme,” he wrote in his report.
