THE Resource Centre in Feohanagh has been restored and the first function in the restored parochial house has been hosted.

The Ladies Club held their Christmas party with great celebrations enjoyed by all.

An official opening of the centre will take place in due course and all those who contributed in their various ways to the realisation of the project will attend the occasion of celebration for the parish.

The rooms in the centre are spacious and all necessary facilities are provided – heating, office space, event rooms, meeting rooms, fully functional kitchen, broadband, bins and safe well-lit car parking.

Its facilities will be available to all interested parties, both local and non-local.

The Resource Centre committee is “indebted” to those who devoted their time and effort to solving all the problems they had to overcome.

“They deserve our gratitude and we are immensely proud of their achievement,” said a spokesperson.

Conscious of the significance of the occasion, the past history of the house was recounted.

The original builder was a local man Ned O'Sullivan from Cooleygorman.

Construction commenced in 1922 and was completed by 1924 – exactly one hundred years ago.

Many priests resided there through the years.

The last Curate who resided there was the late Rev Fr James Hudner CC, who lived there from 1964 to 2003.

Years of deterioration followed but now it is reborn as the Community Centre – the new Tigh an Phobail.

Funding of €150,000 was awarded to Limerick City and C0unty Council under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme – Building Acquisition Measure to purchase the parochial house in 2023. In 2022, the resource centre received Government funding of €365,486 for the development of the old parochial house in the village.
