The controversial semi-final with Blackrock-Effin was replayed on Friday night in Doon

AFTER waiting over a month for the boardroom to sort out the semi-final controversy, Templeglantine won two games over the Bank Holiday weekend to claim the Limerick Intermediate Camogie Championship.

The controversial semi-final with Blackrock-Effin was replayed on Friday night in Doon.

With the game level early in the second half, extra time - and, yes, penalties - were on the cards.

However, a strong finish saw the west Limerick club come out with a 3-11 to 1-6 win.

Then, on Monday, they made the short trip to Adare to take on a Na Piarsaigh side who had been waiting for the other side of the draw to catch up for over a month,

Stephanie Woulfe was to the fore with 0-7 with Noelle Curtin and Stacey Flynn getting the goals in the 2-11 to 2-10 win.

Trailing by three points heading into injury time, a most dramatic conclusion saw the west Limerick side earn their place in next year’s senior championship.

After a busy weekend, their reward is a place in the Munster Junior Championship, where Templeglantine will host Clare’s Eire Og.

Cillard (Kerry) and Abbeyside (Waterford) are on the other side of the draw,

‘Glantine will be looking for a better venture into the provincial championship than Newcastle West, who were beaten by Clanmaurice at the weekend in Lixnaw.

Templeglantine scorers v Na Piarsaigh: Stephanie Woulfe 0-7; Noelle Curtin 1-2; Stacey Flynn 1-0; Sarah O’Brien and Ciara Curtin 0-1 each.
