Last year, just days before Christmas, Josh Quinlivan was involved in a serious road traffic incident which led to the 21-year-old being hospitalised.

The incident with an e-bike saw Mr Quinlivan transported to Cork University Hospital due to the extent of his serious injuries.

Quinlivan, a talented soccer player, had previously captained the Treaty United U19 side, whilst also making appearances for Cork City U19s and Fairview Rangers.

He had more recently been starring in a striker’s role for Pike Rovers FC after he signed with the Limerick side last year.

Pike Rovers say that Josh is 'recovering well' and state that this exhibition match will raise vital funds for him and his family for the ongoing medical costs.

All funds raised will go to Josh and his family towards his recovery.

The match will take place at Pike Rovers' home venue, Crossagalla, on Sunday, August 17 at 2pm.

Tickets for the match are still being sold and Pike Rovers say that “hopefully the great footballing community in Limerick will get behind this worthy cause."

Tickets are priced at €10 and they can be purchased from Pike Rovers committee members and also through Revolut.

If you or your club would like to buy tickets or make a donation, the Revolut number is 0872243944.

There is also a GoFundMe page set up for Josh which can be found online.

Josh's aunt, Marguerite, says that “Josh is a fighter and the strongest person we all know.”
