Emergency services at ‘multi-vehicle’ crash on Limerick motorway

EMERGENCY services are at the scene of a double-vehicle road crash on the M7 motorway in Limerick this Tuesday afternoon.

At 3.45pm, four Fire Service units were dispatched to the scene of the crash, which occurred between the J28 Castletroy and J27 Birdhill along the motorway, northbound.

It is understood that ambulance and gardai are at the scene. According to AA Roadwatch, the motorway northbound is closed, between the two junctions, and traffic has diverted to the old N7 (R445) road and Birdhill village.

Three units were dispatched from the Mulgrave Street base, while one unit was sent from Newport station.

It is not known, yet, how many vehicles are involved in the collision or how many individuals are involved.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

AA Roadwatch has said that caution is needed on approach.
