It is understood that Limerick City Fire Service was alerted around 8pm by Munster Regional Fire Control.

On arrival, firefighters treated the man until paramedics arrived. The man, believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, was treated on scene by HSE Paramedics, including an Advanced Paramedic, and was then brought to University Hospital Limerick.

His injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening.

The bus driver was quite shaken but is not believed to be injured. No passengers were injured.
