It was further alleged in Limerick District Court that the man threatened the woman that he would “get his cousins in Weston after her” on April 5, 2026 at Lord Edward Street.

The judge was told that the woman has since put out a Protection Order against the man.

In an interview, the man acknowledged to gardaí that he “had difficulty controlling his temper”, but he has denied all allegations of violence.

Solicitor Pauric Nesbitt, representing the man, said that he “denies striking her”.

Mr Nesbitt further stated “onlookers would describe them as both in an argument” and “there’s no corroborating evidence” for the allegations.

Judge Patricia Harney said that the man “comes before the court an innocent man”, but she said that she found the garda evidence credible.
