‘Double tragedy’: Grief of Faulkner family in Limerick is compounded by scammers

SCAMMERS have added to the deep sense of loss being experienced by the Faulkner family in Limerick, who are grieving the tragic passing of Jason two days after sister Scarlett was laid to rest.

Josephine (Joanne) Duffy, the partner of Jason and Scarlett's brother Thomas, was joined by her sister and social media influencer Aisling in a video on Instagram.

Aisling said that fake fundraising pages using their identities are circulating on social media.

“These pages are fake. The Faulkner family will be funding all their own funerals. They would never ask for any donations. We just want to let you know from Joanne and myself that there are fake pages that are being made.

“We would never text you first. We would never ask for any funds, nothing like that,” said Aisling.

Joanne added that it’s a big family and “they all have each other”. 

Aisling said that family members will support each other, be there for each other and fund the funerals themselves.

“Thanks to everyone that is texting and saying that they would like to help. Please just be careful - we are begging you,” said Aisling, who has over 34,000 followers on her Aisling Unfiltered Instagram page. Aisling and Joanne asked people to share the video post.

The sisters stress that they only have one official page each and don’t have any back-up pages.

“And again, thanks to everyone that has sent messages and just remember, please don't answer any pages or any text messages from any pages,” concluded Aisling.
