A TEENAGER had a miraculous escape this Sunday after a barrier crashed through the windscreen of the car he was travelling in.
Photographs from the aftermath of the incident, which happened in Newcastle West, have been widely shared on WhatsApp.
It is understood the teenage boy, who was sitting in the passenger seat, ducked a split second before the barrier would have hit him.
One person told Limerick Live: “Honest to God, I don't know how he escaped. The consequences are not worth thinking about. It’s nothing short of a miracle. It cut through the car like a hot knife through butter.”
Emergency services attended the scene in the vicinity of the Tesco on the Limerick Road, Newcastle West, this Sunday afternoon. The driver and the teenager were treated for shock and what are believed to be minor injuries.
It is not known how the incident occurred.
