Crews have been mobilised to make the necessary repairs and Uisce Éireann says it is also liaising closely with the ESB
UISCE Éireann says it's working to restore water supply to hundreds of customers in west Limerick whose supply has been impacted by a power outage.
It says households and businesses in Newcastle West and the surrounding areas have been experiencing lower-than-normal water pressure and intermittent water outages, over the past 24 hours.
Crews have been mobilised to make the necessary repairs and Uisce Éireann says it is also liaising closely with the ESB to prioritise the restoration of power to the water treatment infrastructure.
Commenting this Saturday evening, Duane O'Brien, Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann, said: "A fault has resulted in a power outage, impacting production at local water treatment infrastructure. Expert crews are working tirelessly to restore operations. We regret any inconvenience caused by this issue and sincerely thank the community impacted for their patience."

Mr O'Brien added: “As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes. Following return of supply, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to fully be restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network”.
Uisce Éireann says it may be necessary to implement water conservation measures overnight to maintain daytime supplies. In particular, high-ground areas will experience a reduction in pressure and flow during the restrictions. The utility says it is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers.
