Corbally Utd 1 Pike Rovers 3
PIKE Rovers advanced in the Munster Junior Cup on Sunday morning when they held off a dogged Corbally side to win 3-1. The result sets up a mouth-watering third round clash with Ballynanty Rvs for a place in the open stages of the competition.
Pike had to work hard for their victory on Sunday and it was only when Dylan Kelly Higgins made it 3-1 ten minutes from time that they could relax somewhat.
Pike made the perfect start to proceedings when new signing Ruari Morgan played a one-two with Steven McGann before firing in after just two minutes.

Corbally responded well and took advantage of some sloppy defending when Robert Clancy raced onto a loose ball and held off his challengers before shooting in from ten yards.
A triple save by Dean Callinan midway through the half kept the Hoops at bay but the visitors did retake the lead before the break. A superb ball over the defence by Aaron Hough was controlled by Joe Murphy and volley to the corner giving the keeper no chance.
Pike struggled to add to their lead after the break and until the 80th minute when Dylan Kelly Higgins gathered out wide and a mazy run into the area ended with the winger firing home at the front post.

THE other all-Premier clashes needed spot kicks to separate the sides as Mungret advances at the expense of Janesboro.
It was a closely fought game throughout with neither side able to make a breakthrough in normal time. Extra time saw ‘Boro take the lead on 106 minutes through Gavin Carrig but the home side responded and within three minutes it was all square again when C Player Barry Danaher equalised.
Penalties were required to decide the tie and Mungret keeper Daniel Doyle emerged the hero saving three and scoring one penalty to ensure Mungret’s place in round three.

HIGH-FLYING Ballynanty Rvs had an easier than expected win over top Premier A side Newport at Ballynanty Park.
Once Eddie Byrnes put the Blues in front on 15 minutes it proved one way traffic.
Vinny Ryan doubled the lead before the break and the same player netted again five minutes after the restart to make it 3-0. A minute later Kane Connolly made it four.
Ryan moved joint top of the goalscorers charts when he completed his hat trick 20 minutes from time while Kane Connolly completed the scoring shortly after.

GERALDINES navigated a tricky tie away to Star Rvs to advance to round three at Lee Estate on Sunday.
Alan Keane teed up Kevin Barry to open the scoring on 23 minutes and five minutes later Keane was again the architect for Tony Mambuana to make it 2-0.
Mambuana scored again before the break but shortly after the restart Star got some hope when Fellipe Torress pulled one back.
However, the visitors had the final say when Jake Leamy scored a last gasp goal to bring the game to a finish.

LIKE all other Premier sides, Fairview progressed with relative ease to round three.
Yoyo Mahdy converted a spot kick to five Fairview the lead on 18 minutes and an own goal sealed the visitors fate ten minutes from the break. Michael Omojoefodum scored his first for the Blues to make it 3-0 at the break.
After the restart Yoyo Mahdy scored his second penalty of the day and went on to complete his hat trick on the hour mark.

NENAGH AFC will take on Athlunkard Villa in round three following a 5-0 win at home to Prospect on Sunday.
A brace of goals from Dan Connolly put Nenagh in control by the break.
Ten-man Prospect had no answer to Nenagh after the restart. Kieran Barr made it 3-0 before Dylan Morrison also got on the scoresheet.
Adam Ryan completed the scoring late on for the Tipperary side.

A 19th-MINUTE goal from Jamie Halpin put Aisling on their way away to Charleville. Within a minute it was 2-0 when Adam Foley netted the first of three on the day.
After the restart, Donal O’Connell pulled one back for the home side but it proved temporary reprieve as Adam Foley restored the two-goal advantage on 70 minutes.
Sean Oyibo made it 4-1 before Foley completed his hat trick late on.

ATHLUNKARD Villa ensured a clean sweep for Premier sides when they defeated Regional United B at Lee Estate.
Gerry Fitzpatrick ruffled a few feathers when he put the visitors in front in the opening minute but a Danny Taylor penalty on 38 minutes sent the sides in level at the break.
Omar Darboe tilted the tie in Villa’s favour after the break and the tie was settled when Cillian Scully scored a crucial third for the home side.

IN the Munster Shield, last season’s winners Herbertstown progressed following a 3-1 win over Mungret Regional B. Adam O’Neill scored for the home side but Bradley McNamara, Mike Ryan and Kevin Meade ensured a ‘Town win.
Winners in 2024, Balla B needed penalties to see of a good Hyde B side. Aaron Nunan gave Balla the lead but a late Evan Shine goal ensured a penalty shoot out where Balla prevailed.
Niall O'Riordan and John Pratt were on the mark for Holycross but Nathan Walsh and Darragh Reddan scored two apiece with Brian Dillon and Calum O'Hanlon making up the tally for a strong Granville XI.
Aisling Annacotty D and Pike Rvs B played a 3-3 thriller with Aisling progressing after penalties. Evan O'Neill and Tom Canty scored for the winners, Jamie Hogan, Dylan O'Neill and Shane Henry scored for the Hoops.
Goals from Liam Quinn 2 and Liam Quaid helped Murroe to a 3-0 win over Parkville while Shelbourne ran in seven against Athlunkard Villa C. Colm Cassidy bagged a hat trick with Ger Johnson, Adam McGlynn, Josh McCoy and Inan Cullen also obliging.
Patrickswell edged out Fairview B in a seven goal thriller. Mark O'Halloran 2, Paul O'Brien and Jason Gillane obliged for the winners. Adam Keating, Ethan O'Sullivan and Cian Donnelly were on the mark for Fairview.
Newport B raised a few eyebrows in a 6-2 win over Pallas.
Keith Mawdsley claimed three goals with Colin Coleman, Chris Carmody and Adam Power making up the winners tally’ David Ryan and Conor Phipps replied for Pallas.
A hat-trick from Rafael Henrique 3 and one from Wesley Gabriel helped Brazuca United to a 4-1 win over Lisnagry A for whom Adam Hourigan replied while Nenagh B beat Lough Derg 4-2 in a Tipperary derby.
Robert Ipsalat, Darragh McDonnell, Cillian O'Gorman and Diarmuid Fitzpatrick scored for the winners; Liam O'Shaughnessy and Daniel Tighe replied.
Anton Stanners and Callum Quinn goals gave Moyross C a memorable win over Kilfrush while Herbertstown B also impressed against Division 1 side Corbally B winning 3-1 thanks to scores from Ken O'Loughlin, Daniel McGuire and Cian McCarthy.
Goals from Kieran Godfrey 3, Ben Hickey 2 and Evan Martin 2 gave Caherconlish a big win over Northside and gives them home advantage in the next round v Shelbourne.
On Saturday evening, Murroe C shocked Croom Utd winning 2-0 through goals from Diarmuid Ryan and David Rainsford.
In league action, Rory Reale scored five times as Knockainey beat Ballynanty Rovers C 6-0 in Division 3A. Colin Buckley was also on target while Castle Utd edged out Shelbourne B 3-2 thanks to goals from Pat O'Connor 2 and Brian O'Leary. Martin Wallace and Alex Robinson netted for Shels.
In the Under 17 Premier League, Holycross opened up a five point lead after a 3-0 win over Pike Rvs. H McAteer, K Reale and Ronan Conneely were on the mark for the winners.
Goals from Riain Martin 3, Ngache Aguinagalde, Ewan Coulter and Aaron Guerin helped Aisling Annacotty A to a 6-0 win over Caherdavin Celtic.
It was also 6-0 when Murroe A hosted Shelbourne. A Hackett 2, S Ryan, Cian Connolly, K Roche and Matt Halvey gave the home side the points while Fairview Rangers and Mungret Regional ended 2-2 on Saturday evening. Craig Sheehan scored twice for Fairview.
In Division One, Pike had a good win at Regional Utd. Sean Crowley scored twice for the home side but goals from Stephen Hanrahan 2, S Hartigan 2, Vas Da Cruz Nev and A Higgins gave Pike the spoils.
Mark O'Donnell with 2, and T Hofler netted for Aisling Annacotty B in a 3-1 win over Lough Derg A for whom G McWey replied while Lisnagry claimed the bragging rights in a 2-0 win over Newport, Cormac Ryan and Fionn Hennessy were the winning marksmen.
