Limerick lost their opening Munster Hurling League tie against Clare in Tulla last week but John Kiely's charges were never in trouble against the Rebels.
Colm O'Brien opened the scoring for the Rebels inside the first minute with a fine point but his effort was quickly cancelled out via a Tom Morrissey 45.
Morrissey got his second of the night moments later when he slotted over from an acute angle to give Limerick the lead.
Cian Lynch got off the mark in the sixth minute, the Patrickswell man swinging the sliotar over the bar with his usual flair.
Colm McCarthy reduced the deficit to one moments later but Ben O'Connor's side could have had an early goal if not for the heroics of Limerick shot stopper Colin Ryan who made a superb stop seconds before McCarthy's effort.
Limerick started to turn the screw from this point on in the opening half.
Centre-forward Peter Casey began to catch fire, with the Na Piarsaigh man becoming more involved in the game as the half wore on.
Efforts from Casey, Lynch, English gave Limerick in a three-point lead after 12 minutes. Cork did have a sight at goal when Seán Desmond latched on to a loose puck-out but his effort went over Colin Ryan's bar.

Wing-back Tom Hanley and wing-forward jack O'Connor pointed Cork's final two scores of the half but John Kiely's side finished the half the stronger with points from Morrissey (2), Donnacha Ó'Dalaigh and Darragh O'Donovan to give the home side a 0-16 to 0-7 half time lead.
Cillian Tobin got the second half scoring underway seconds into the second half but his effort was quickly cancelled out with substitute Mike Casey making an instant impact from the bench.
Peter Casey added his fourth of the night moments later and points from Morrissey (2) and Ó'Dálaigh (2) gave Limerick a 0-22 to 0-8 point lead after 40 minutes.
Two Colm McCarthy frees stopped the rot for the Rebels momentarily but Limerick began to rally again and points from English, Paddy O'Donovan and a first of the night for Gearoid Hegarty put Limerick 15 points to the good.
The lively Ó'Dálaigh netted the first three-pointer of the night on 50 minutes to put the game to bed as a contest, the Monaleen clubman firing his effort into the top left-hand corner of Brían Saunderson's net.
Both teams would trade a few scores each for the last ten minutes as the game began to fizzle out with Limerick running out resounding 1-28 to 0-16 on the night.
Photographer Brendan Gleeson was on hand to capture all of the colour and excitement from Wednesday's night clash at TUS Gaelic Grounds.
