PICTURES: Presentation night for Tractor Safety Limerick course participants

The course, now in its fifth year, teaches young people best practice when they get in a tractor cab

CERTIFICATES have been presented to the 20 young people who took part in the Tractor Safety Limerick course at last August’s Limerick Show.

The course, now in its fifth year, is run by Knockainey residents John Macnamara and Richard O’Regan. The presentation ceremony took place in the Woodlands House Hotel.

Its aims are to both raise awareness amongst young people of the implicit dangers of working with machinery and advance the knowledge of how to mitigate these risks.

The course was presented free of charge courtesy of AXA, Breen's Garage and Geary's Garage, who all contributed to the event.

Mr Macnamara and Mr O’Regan paid a special thanks to Garda Mark O’Mahony for his engaging manner with the participants, whilst also making important points regarding driver responsibility and road safety.
