Four decades of service come to an end for family business in Limerick city

A MUCH-loved family-run pet shop in Limerick city is preparing to close after four decades in business.

Paws ’N’ Claws, based in Fox’s Bow, has announced it will wind down operations over the coming weeks.

The Ryan family who run the pet shop posted a notice on the window detailing the closure, saying:

"Our family-owned store has been much more than a business to everyone who has filled up their bags with pet food, treats, accessories and purchased their beloved pets from us."

"The loyalty, friendship will never be forgotten, right from our first incarnation, The Fin & Feather to our home in Fox's Bow."

The Ryan family added that they have watched a generation of families come through the shop and that it was a privilege to serve everyone over the years. "To all our staff, we are filled with gratitude for helping us make it this far."

"Finally, the most important acknowledgements to our amazing mother Eileen and late father Ivan, we couldn't have done it without you."

The Ryan family concluded the notice by thanking all the pets "whose unwavering love for their owners meant Paws 'N' Claws lasted a lifetime."
