Limerick Rose Hazel Ni Chathasaigh launches the search for the 2019 Rose at the Fitzgeralds Woodlands Hotel in Adare

THE SEARCH is now underway to find the 2019 Limerick Rose, with women from all over Limerick invited to apply online ahead of this year’s Rose Selection.

For 2019, Fitzgeralds Woodlands Hotel is also set to host the Limerick Rose of Tralee Selection, the first time the event has been held in the hotel in Adare.

“The Limerick Rose has received tremendous support over the years, not only from the people of the city and county, but also the local businesses who help us host our events and support the Roses who enter the selection,” Limerick centre co-coordinator Tom Cranley said.

“All of us on the Limerick Rose team are excited for the weeks ahead as we meet the Limerick Lady who will represent us on stage with Daithi O’Sé in August.”

It was previously announced that there will only be one Limerick Rose every two years from 2019, under a new revamped selection process for the Rose of Tralee.

The changes in the competition would see half of the regions showcasing a Rose each year, and have been made to “ensure that every Rose enjoys the ultimate positive experience”.

Roses representing Kerry, Cork and Dublin will continue to be selected every year. For a Rose, the festival entails a host of events, including parades, gala functions, the televised Rose selection nights, a Rose Tour and more.

The new move means that every Limerick Rose will make it as far as the televised final. Up until 2017, Limerick had gone 10 years without being represented in the televised selection.

Limerick Rose Hazel Ní Chathasaigh did not make it through to the final TV selections with Dáithí Ó Sé in the Dome last year.

The 2019 festival will run from Friday August 23 to Tuesday August 27. To apply online, visit roseoftralee.ie and complete the application form.
