AN “UNAUTHORISED encampment” has moved from a site in a business park outside Limerick city to a new road leading to a secondary school in Croom.
Limerick Live has been sent videos and photos of up to 20 mobile homes and 20 associated vehicles parked up on the side of the road in Croom this Monday. The footpath and bike lanes are blocked in places, forcing students out onto the road.
Limerick Live has learned that the people in the encampment travelled from Nenagh to Limerick last week.
It is believed they set up home in the Plassey area for a few days before moving close to a vacant site for sale in the Raheen Business Park (pictured below).

Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Niall Collins said representations had been made to him over the weekend by a number of tenants in Raheen Business Park including high-end multinationals, and now, this Monday, he has also been contacted by concerned parents in Croom.
“We can’t have unauthorised encampments in full view of the largest multi-billion investment in Limerick and a state-of-the-art secondary school as children are going to school.
“They are parked up on the road to the new school. I have been informed that children have had to walk and cycle out on the road because the footpath and bike lane is blocked in places,” said Mr Collins.
