THERE WILL be a series of alterations to bus services across the city tomorrow in order to facilitate the Regeneron Great Limerick Run.

O'Connell Street will be closed this Sunday for the huge event, which will draw thousands of people to the city to take part in three events.

Bus Éireann has outlined the changes to its city routes for this event, with most services operating at a 30 minute frequency as is the norm for Sundays.

From 10.40am to 6pm, route 301 between Fr Russell Road and the city centre will divert down the Dock Road to the Shannon Bridge Roundabout.

Passengers for the city centre will be dropped off and picked up at Scanlon's Pharmacy at Dock Road. Instead of O'Connell Avenue, the route will divert down the Dock Road. There will be no service between Ballinacurra and the centre.

Elsewhere on the 302 between 10am and 6pm, services will depart from Arthur's Quay and operate via Island Road and Thomond Bridge to Caherdavin in both directions. No buses will drop off or pick up in Henry Street or Sarsfield Street.

Route 303, which links Moyross, Southill and the city centre, will depart from Arthur's Quay to the northside of the city, and Upper William Street, outside Future Sound of Vision to the southside.

Its stops at Henry Street and William Street will be closed until the evening. This service will operate at a 20 minute frequency after 10am.

Services along the busy 304 route, linking the University of Limerick (UL), Raheen and the city centre will also be impacted.

From 8.20am, services leaving Raheen will operate their normal route to Maypark, outside the former Xtravision outlet, before swinging back at at the Crescent Shopping Centre roundabout and diverting down Fr Russell Road, and into the city via Dock Road and Shannon Bridge.

Like the 301, the drop-off will be at Scanlon's Pharmacy.

Services from UL to the city centre will terminate at Upper William Street, and reflect the regular route out to and from Castletroy.

The 304A will also divert down Fr Russell Road after serving Maypark in Dooradoyle. Scanlon's Pharmacy at Dock Road will again be the drop-off point.

From UL, services will depart from outside Future Sound and Vision in Upper William Street and operate by Pennywell, Parkway, UL and Monaleen. Services from UL will terminate at Sexton Street with its main city centre stops closed to allow for the Regeneron Great Limerick Run.

On route 305A, there will be no service in Liddy Street, but services towards St Mary's Park via the Island Road will depart from Arthur's Quay at an hourly frequency.

Finally for services within the city, the 306 to Ballynanty and Lord Edward Street will depart from Arthur's Quay at an hourly service, and will not pick up in Henry Street.

Inter-city coach services are also impacted: Dublin Coach, which links Adare, Newcastle West Abbeyfeale, UL and Bunratty with the capital will see its pick-up and drop-off stop relocated.

Instead of Arthur's Quay, this will be at Dock Road, beside the Live95FM studio.

Expressway routes 13 and 14 for Limerick, Tralee and Killarney will not pick up or drop off at Crescent Shopping Centre and University Hospital Limerick.

The Shannon Airport bus, 343, will operate directly between Colbert Station, and the bus stop at Ennis Road motors, northwards of the Jetland Shopping Centre.

It means there will be no pick-up in Henry Street at the Strand Hotel or any stop before Ennis Road Motors.

The former Ivan's store in Caherdavin will be the last drop-off before the 343 heads for the city centre en-route back.

Lastly, Limerick to Scariff services on the 345 will not serve Arthur's Quay or William Street.
