Man dies after road crash in County Limerick

A major operation is underway after two men were knocked down by a car in Parteen this Thursday

GARDAÍ have launched an investigation after a 25-year-old County Cork man lost his life in a single vehicle accident near Banogue last night.

The accident occurred at Ballyphillip, Banogue on the N20 Limerick to Cork road at approximately 11.50pm.

The man, who was from Mallow, was fatally injured when the car he was driving in collided with a pole. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem will take place.

The road was closed overnight and local diversions were put in place to facilitate a garda forensic collision investigation.

The road has since reopened.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Newcastle West Garda Station on 069-20650, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any garda station.
