Ruth Negga spent several of her childhood years in Limerick
IRISH actress Ruth Negga has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance in Apple TV's Presumed Innocent.
The actress, who grew up in Limerick, starred as the "emotionally unsatisfied" wife Barbara Sabich in the mystery thriller TV series opposite Jake Gyllenhaal's Rusty Sabich.
She received a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category.
Her competition in the category includes Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco of Netflix's Adolesence, Irish actor Colin Farrell's co-star Francis Cobb in The Penguin, Chloé Sevigny in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and Jenny Slate in Dying for Sex.

The star has previously received nominations for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, two Golden Globe Awards, a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Award for her work on the screen.
She has also been nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award and a Tony Award for her stage work on the West End and Broadway, respectively.
Born in Addis Abba, Ethiopia in 1981 to an Irish mother and Ethiopian father, the actress lived in Ethiopia as a young child before moving to Limerick, where she spent much of her childhood.
