Aldi's newly opened store on Roches Street marks its first location in Limerick city centre, its 164th store in Ireland and fourth in Limerick overall.
The German firm first established a presence in the county with the opening of its Childers Road store in 2006.
"I’m delighted to officially open Aldi's new store on Roches Street right in the heart of Limerick city. It is a welcome investment that brings activity, jobs, and opportunity to our urban core. Limerick City and County Council is proud to support businesses that choose to grow here. This store is a great addition to the city centre, and I wish the team at Aldi every success as they become part of our vibrant business community," said Cllr Butler.
Store manager Mr Dawson added: "Our team is eager to welcome customers into this state-of-the-art store and provide them with the top-quality products and outstanding service that Aldi is known for. We’re confident that this new store will be a fantastic addition to the area, offering an extensive selection of products at unbeatable prices. We look forward to continuing our support for the local community and economy for many years to come."
Rugby star Kilcoyne commented: "As a proud Limerick man, I understand the importance of a thriving city centre — and this new state-of-the-art ALDI store is a fantastic addition. It strengthens ALDI’s ties with local suppliers throughout Limerick city and county, while bringing real value to local shoppers.”
