PERMISSION is being sought to convert a well-known pub close to the city centre into housing.
PJ Quigley and Nuala Murray have submitted an application to Limerick City and County Council regarding The Black Swan at 21 Davis Street, close to Colbert Station.
They are seeking planning permission to change the use of the existing ground floor from a public house to a single residential unit, along with all ancillary site works.
It is proposed that the new residential unit will comprise a living / dining / kitchen area, three bedrooms, a bathroom and a small courtyard.

The application, which does not make any reference to the existing flat on the second floor of the building, was received by the council on March 27, and submissions can be made up to April 30.
The planning application has been lodged by Michael O’Connor of Praxis Architecture, who is acting on behalf of the applicants.
According to planning documents, proposed changes to the premises include the installation of new stud partitions on the internal walls and the removal of existing internal partitions, both of which would be necessary to facilitate the proposed change of use.

According to documents submitted to the council, the existing floor slab will remain as will the existing aluminium and timber windows.
The planning application, which has been validated by the local authority, can be viewed online or it may be inspected or purchased in person from its offices during normal public opening hours.
Any submissions or observations which are received from members of the public or interested parties will be considered by the Planning Authority as part of its decision-making process.
Limerick City and County Council is due to make a decision regarding the application by May 21.
