THE Treaty United Men’s side will be looking to build on last week’s impressive win over Longford Town when they travel to the south-east to face high-flying Bray Wanderers in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division tonight at 7.45pm.

Two first half goals from Cian Curtis and Mark Byrne plus three outstanding saves from keeper Jack Brady deservedly secured all three points for second from bottom Treaty United against Longford Town at Bishopsgate last Saturday night.

It was the Shannonsider’s eight league win of the season as they continue to leave bottom side Finn Harps in their wake, with the Super Blues now sitting on 33 points, nine points adrift of Kerry FC, who currently occupy the fifth and final play-off position.

Speaking to Treaty United media post-match, Barrett was pleased with his side’s performance, stating the importance of backing up a good performance with a result.

“It was a really good performance, I thought we were the better team. We’re probably a bit disappointed in the first 20 minutes or half hour of the second half that we sat back a small bit but that happens when you’re 2-0 up. Overall I thought we were comfortable.

“I feel like we’ve performed well all year, it’s just that at other times we haven’t gotten the results. We’ve played well up here (Bishopsgate) and lost 3-1 because we made individual errors.

"We played well against them last time out at the Markets Field but it was an individual error that cost us a goal and we didn’t manage to score. I thought last week against Wexford (a 1-0 loss for Treaty) we were much the better side but we didn’t move the ball quick enough. Tonight suited us because it was a slick surface, which does suit us, we got to move the ball quickly and tonight was a good win.”

Treaty will face a Bray Wanderers side who are in fine First Division form this season.

Paul Heffernan’s side sit third in the table on 47 points, two points adrift of second place UCD and 21 points behind runaway league leaders Cork City.

A win for Treaty United on Friday night at the Carlisle Grounds would not see the Shannonsiders budge from ninth place as the Limerick side sit four points behind eight place Wexford FC.
