THE three Limerick schools in the TUS Dr Harty Cup are all in second round action this Wednesday afternoon.

Two sides are playing in Limerick venues with all games throwing in at 1.30pm.

Ardscoil Ris, the only local side to taste victory in round 1, take on CBS Midleton in Kilmallock.

The Cork school lost by 11 points to Nenagh CBS in their opening match but have a potential match-winner in the shape of Cormac Deane.

Ardscoil were impressive in parts as they opened their campaign with a three-point win over Gaelcholaiste Mhuire (North Mon).

All-Ireland minor-winning captain Shane Waters was the top-scorer for Niall Moran’s men who also had Alex Kearns and Eamon O’Sullivan in fine scoring form.

The other game in this group – between North Mon and champions Nenagh CBS – takes place in Knocklong.

John The Baptist Community School and Castletroy College are both looking to get back in the hunt for quarter-final places as they return to action.

The Hospital side were very much second best against Christian Brothers College, Cork in their opener. The south Limerick school take on St Flannan’s at TUS.

The Ennis school had 17 points to spare at the Moylish Campus as they started the U19 ‘A’ competition with a win over Our Lady's Secondary School.

The Clare men had Eoin O’Connor notch 2-2 and Conor Coffey strike 0-9 in their victory.

For JTB, Christian Higgins and the Hanly brothers from Ballybricken-Bohermore will be key to them getting their season back on track.

Castletroy College - with the vast majority of their panel from either Monaleen or Ahane - travel to Cratloe to take on St Joseph's Tulla.

For the city school, Cian McCarthy impressed for Muiris Gilbourne’s side as they fell to defeat against St Colman’s College in round one.

Shane Moloughney and Conor Ryan got goals for the Limerick school in defeat.

Tulla had to settle for a share of the spoils when they took on Blackwater Community School in their opening round contest..
