Heavy rain on the way as weather warning issued for nine counties
More heavy rain is on the way this week with a risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain on Monday, according to Met Éireann.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy, Met Éireann forecasts. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west will spread eastwards through the late morning and afternoon, becoming widespread by evening and turning more persistent in the west and northwest. Highest temperatures 15 to 19 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds.
Sunday night will be overcast across Ireland with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, most persistent in Ulster. Rain and drizzle will become mostly light and patchy by morning. Mist and hill fog in places too. Mild and humid with temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds.
On Monday morning, patchy light rain and drizzle will clear and there may be a few bright spells.
In the afternoon, rain will spread from the west, turning heavy at times in the evening with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees with light to moderate westerly or variable breezes
