TUESDAY'S third round draw in the Sports Direct FAI Cup threw up a mouth-watering local derby with the meeting of SSE Airtricity League First Division side Treaty United and Limerick District League side Pike Rovers.

The last 16 tie will take place at the Markets Field on the week-ending August 18.

Teenage goalkeeper Michael Dike was the Treaty hero as it took extra time and penalties for Tommy Barrett’s side to edge past a stubborn Kilbarrack United side after a scoreless draw in their Sports Direct FAI Cup second round tie on Friday evening in the Market’s Field.

Treaty were relieved to advance to the last 16 stage of the Cup after defeating the Leinster Senior League side 4-1 on penalties with teenager Dike saving two of the spot kicks in what was a frustrating evening in Garryowen.

Treaty United are back in league action this Friday when Finn Harps visit the Markets Field for a crucial SSE Airtricity League First Division fixture, 7.45pm.

Pike Rovers were comprehensive 3-1 winners at home to Midleton FC on Saturday last to book their place in the last 16 stage of the Sports Direct FAI Cup at Pike Rovers Sportsgound.

The Hoops were full value for their win against the Munster Senior League side. The Pike Rovers goals were scored by Dylan Murphy on 39 minutes, Shane Walsh in the 71st minute and Shane Clarke 11 minutes before full-time.

Robbie Williams' side were only in their second week of pre-season as the new Limerick District League season does not begin until mid-August.

Among the other top ties in the round three draw for the Sports Direct FAI Cup on Tuesday, which was made at the Conference Centre at Sport Ireland, is the all-Premier Division meeting of Shelbourne and Galway United at Tolka Park.
