Charlie Kelman at the double to end Orient’s run of defeats

Charlie Kelman’s brace helped Leyton Orient win 2-1 at Blackpool to snap their losing streak in Sky Bet League One.

A goal by Kelman in each half – the second coming moments after the hosts’ equaliser – saw them take a welcome victory after five straight defeats.

The first half was slow to kick into life until Kelman’s goal just before the half-hour mark. Diallang Jaiyesimi sent a cross in and Kelman buried his close-range header.

Ashley Fletcher wasted a glorious chance to level with the goal at his mercy. The striker pounced on a weak header intended for Josh Keeley and rounded the goalkeeper but shot over the open goal.

Fletcher had a chance to make amends shortly afterwards but headed Lee Evans’ cross wide.

Blackpool continued to push but Keeley saved from Sonny Carey and Rob Apter to keep the visitors ahead at half-time.

Kelman was close to doubling Orient’s lead in the second half but crashed a shot against the bar.

Carey drew Blackpool level with an hour played, his quick feet creating the space for an emphatic finish after receiving a pass from Tom Bloxham.

However, Orient regained the lead soon after. Dan Agyei reached the byline and sent a low ball across goal for Kelman to turn in.

Niall Ennis hit the post from close range and Blackpool’s best chance, with two minutes remaining, saw Jake Beesley clear the bar with only Keeley to beat.
