PICTURES: Much-loved Limerick artist has an 80th birthday party with a difference!

IF LIFE imitates art then young-at-heart Limerick artist Barbara Hartigan had the perfect “kids-style” 80th birthday party.

The  much-loved Castleconnell lady didn’t want a big fuss so her family surprised her with a party in Supermac’s, Ballysimon Road.  Husband Leslie, four children - Shane, Clare, Erin, Tara - and her grandchildren all kept the party a closely-guarded secret.

Supermac’s has special memories for Barbara and Leslie from Covid times when everyone was making the best of a difficult time. They drove there weekly for take-away fish and chips and meet up with friends in a campervan when restrictions were eased.

Barbara had a blast at her party and even had a special guest in Pat McDonagh, owner of Supermac's. He said he was honoured to attend. 

“It is heartening to know it has become a much-loved place for her grandchildren as well. Many special family memories have been created there over the years. 

“We extend our warmest wishes to Barbara on her milestone birthday and hope the occasion brings lasting memories for years to come.” said Mr McDonagh.
