Scarlett Faulkner's life support machine looks set to be disconnected in the coming days
THE family of Limerick woman Scarlett Faulkner have revealed that a decision on withdrawing life support has been delayed as consultants await the results of a final medical test from England.
Scarlett, 29, from the northside of Limerick city, remains in intensive care after she was violently assaulted at the side of the R494 road in Birdhill on March 21. She was attacked by individuals armed with weapons.
In a new update revealed in a video on social media, Josephine (Joanne) Duffy, the partner of Scarlett's brother Thomas said the removal of life support, which had been expected to take place on Friday, cannot proceed until the outstanding test result is returned.
“They said Friday that they were taking the tube from Scarlett because 99 per cent that the sedation is wore off and there is no reaction, and there was no change since the day Scarlett went into the hospital. So they're waiting for one test to come back," said Josephine. "That test is not back until Sunday or Monday."

While the family has been advised of the seriousness of Scarlett's condition, they continue to hope for a recovery. “The family still want all the prayers because, of course, they are still hoping for a miracle,” explained Josephine.
She added that she will provide an update on social media on Sunday or Monday.
Josephine also thanked everyone for their prayers and for keeping the family in their thoughts.
"The family really appreciate every single message and everything. And I'm sorry I can't get back to all my messages because there's thousands of messages. But when I did go on looking for people for the funeral arrangements, we have all that sorted now."
