Some 100 vehicles were all lit-up to celebrate the festive season in Limerick, with money raised going to support the Irish Red Cross, which helps people in emergencies like accidents, floods and other crises.
The dazzling convoy began from Northern Trust Car Park, Ballysimon Road, led by Santa himself and snaked its way through the city watched by cheering supporters.
John Collins, Irish Red Cross, East Limerick branch said: “Our Christmas Blue Light Run was a fantastic success, thanks to the wonderful support of the people of Limerick. Sincere thanks to all those who jazzed up their vehicles and took part, and to all the spectators and supporters who came out in force despite the rain.
"We’ve raised valuable funds which will help us to support our local community during 2026, providing first aid medical services at events, matches and festivals throughout the year. The success of the event is also thanks to the support of An Garda Síochána Limerick and our bike and foot marshals who kept everything running smoothly."
He thanked sponsors of the event, Limerick City and County Council, Rexel Industrial Solutions plus Martin Ryan and Sons.
"And as always, a big thank you to our fantastic Irish Red Cross volunteers who go above and beyond for their community day in, day out – they embody the spirit of giving everyday, not just at Christmas," he concluded.
