LIMERICK city centre’s only five-star hotel has been honoured for its festive frontage.

The Savoy Hotel, located in Henry Street, has been named winner of the bi-monthly Limerick City Tidy Towns award for the final two months of the year.

The voluntary group says the award is in recognition of its outstanding Christmas lights and festive window displays.

Maura O’Neill, Tidy Towns, said: “The Savoy has always stood out for its elegant window displays and year-round planting, but this year’s Christmas décor is exceptional. Given the hotel’s prominent location in the heart of the city, its festive displays bring warmth, style and sparkle to Henry Street.”

She added: “The decorations create a truly welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors during the Christmas season.”

The Savoy Hotel features 107 guest rooms and suites, alongside an executive lounge, the Savoy Bar and the library.

It becomes the sixth and final Limerick City Tidy Towns award winner for 2025.

Joining them in the winners’ enclosure are Crew Brewing Company, who took the award for January and February, March and April’s winners Mike O’Connell Menswear and Katie Daly’s heritage pub, who won for May and June.

There was a change to the usual routine of nominating a business in July and August, when the residents of Richmond Terrace were honoured for the work they do in keeping their front gardens looking attractive in July and August.

Cahill’s Tea, based in Wickham Street won the prize for September and October.

All six winners will now go forward to win the overall prize for 2025, with a public poll opening early in the new year.

Volunteers are always welcome to join the Limerick City Tidy Towns weekly clean-ups of the city.

They meet every Sunday at 11am at the corner of Thomas Street and O’Connell Street.
