BLOW-INS were made to feel as welcome as families that have lived in Boher for generations at a culinary event that hasn’t become a flash in the pan.
A number of community spirited people decided to hold a street feast for the first time in Boher last summer.

The purpose of the event was to encourage neighbours to get out and meet each other, particularly those new to parish.
It was so successful that it was decided to hold the event again this summer and hopefully for many years to come. There was only one stipulation - bring a dish with you to Boher Community Centre to share with your neighbour.
Organisers, Sarah McManus, Áine Lynch, Jessica Hanly, Claire McNamara, and Buddy Duff rolled up their sleeves to make the street feast a success.
You couldn’t see the tables with the vast array of mouthwatering dishes brought by neighbours to share. An accompanying barbecue expertly cooked by Conor McManus and Áine Lynch added to the summer feel.
The organisers ensured youngsters had plenty of activities to occupy them and whet their appetites. The brilliant sunshine was the cherry on top.
The people of Boher made it a success by attending in such members and meeting those they hadn’t met before or not met for some time.
Olivia Humphreys’ was a person everybody wanted to meet. She was presented with a plaque by Pat O'Connell, chairman of Boher Community Development Association (BCDA), in recognition of her becoming the first Irish winner of the James Dyson Award.
Mr O'Connell on behalf of BCDA, wished her continued success into the future.
Ms Humphreys won the award with her invention Athena – an affordable and portable scalp-cooling device for patients going through chemotherapy.
Her invention, to help patients prevent hair loss during chemotherapy, was inspired by her own mother’s cancer battle.
Organisers wished to thank BCDA, John Kennedy, Mick Duff and Mike Moore for supporting the event and everybody who came along to meet new friends and get reacquainted with old ones.
