Pike Rovers 3 Caherdavin Celtic 1

The FAI Junior Cup kicked off at the weekend and Pike Rvs in a first round tie had to give it their all to get past a dogged Caherdavin XI.

Eoin Hanrahan had Pike one to the good at the break when he fired in from 20 yards but ten minutes after the restart Ralph Judge restored parity with a well struck volley.

Thoughts of a major upset were dashed when Keith Hartnett popped up again to put the Hoops back in front and with time running out the same player made sure of the result with a third goal.

Aisling Annacotty 4 Glenview Rvs 0

Aisling kicked off proceedings on Saturday evening in Annacotty and despite a brave showing by Glenview, the home side ran out 4-0 winners.

Liam Danagher made it 1-0 at the break and on 75 minutes Ronan Smalle eased the Premier side’s fears.

Chumkwa Manjor and Dean McNamara made sure of the win with later goals.

Balla took the opportunity to play a number of their younger players and they responded in style hitting most of their goals.

B player Eddie Radcliffe showed his worth with a well taken hat trick, youth players Ryan Earls and Jamie Bromell also obliged while a brace from David Dunphy ensured the older brigade were represented.

Stephen McNamara struck twice for the visitors who trailed 3-1 at the break.

FAI Junior Cup specialists were hit with a number of injuries prior to this game but still did enough to see of a hard working Villa XI.

Division 3 side Northside knocked Geraldines back on their heels when they took an early lead through Ken Griffin but Geraldines powered back to win out.

Colin Daly scored four goals for the winners, one better than team mate Derek Hannon.

After three successive defeats, Summerville just wanted to stop the rot and this they succeeded in doing.

Darren O’Sullivan scored twice for Rovers but the home side remained in it until they knocked the ball into their own net late on to seal the issue.

As expected, Boro proved too good for a brave Shelbourne side on Sunday morning.

The home side battled gamely and held Boro to two for most of the first half but conceded late in the first half to make it 3-0 at the break. Boro upped the tempo after the restart and eased to victory.

James Hayes and Shane Clarke scored two apiece with Colm Hyland, Thomas Lyons, Tom Clarke and Shane Waters also getting in on the act.

Carew Park travelled to Shannon Town on Sunday and went about their business in a professional manner hitting six goals without reply.

Wembley tasted victory for the first time this season in a 3-1 win at Castle Utd.

The only game to scupper a Premier side saw Div 1A challengers Mungret Reg do just enough to make it through.

Goals from Marcus Finucane and Ger Burke had the home side two to the good but a good fightback by Corbally saw them level through a Kevin Burke double.

With time running out Barry Danagher struck to give Mungret a memorable win.

The all Div 1A clash went the way of the leaders by the odd goal in five.

Rob Wall and Gavin Hayes were on the mark for the home side but a Ger Cronin brace and one from Cyril Cleary saw Moyross through.

Weston Villa 6 Caherconlish 3

Div 2A side Weston Villa raised a few eyebrows when they beat Div 1A side Caherconlish in Cals Park. Two goals each for Lee Somers and Gary Higgins along with one for Darragh Ghani and Ian Stewart won it for Villa.

Philip Mulready, Andrew Brennan and Brendan Hourigan replied for a disappointing Caherconlish XI.

Parkville 1 Kilmallock 6

A bang in form Kilmallock made it eight games unbeaten as they brushed aside Parkville to advance in the FAI.

Mike O’Brien scored for the home side but Killian Hayes, Tommy Heffernan, Dave Todd and a hat trick from Paul Doona saw Kilmallock to victory.

Coonagh Utd 3 Newport 4

Goals from Jack O’Donovan and Jamie Fox had Coonagh two in front after ten minutes but just Newport bounced back to pinch it despite finishing the game with nine players.

Andrew McGrath also scored for the homesters with John Meskall, Dean Lenihan, Brian O’Sullivan and an own goal accounting for the Newport scores.

Hospital 5 Star Rvs 0

Div 1A side Hospital proved too strong for a young Star Rvs side at the county venue. Chris Dineen scored twice for the winners as did Shaun O’Brien with Mikey Ryan making up the tally.

Herbertstown 3 St Pauls 1 (aet)

Ryan Deere put Herbertstown ahead in their game with St Pauls but the expected deluge did not arrive and Saints equalised through Mike O’Neill to bring the game to extra time.

Goals from Ger Carey and Tim O’Keeffe saw ‘Town through.

Abbey Rvs 0 Southend 5

It’s nine games unbeaten for Div 2B table toppers Southend who hit and out of sorts Abbey Rvs for five in Corbally.

Steven Grant scored twice for the winners with Tony Grant, Conor Doran and Wayne Cronin also getting in on the act.

Holycross 2 Croom Utd 6

Div 3B side Croom Utd turned in a top class performance when knocking out Div 2A side Holycross. Niall O’Riordan and Tony Burke scored for the home side but a hat trick from Eoin Burchill and goals from George Daffy, Conor Laffan and Dillon Murphy won the day for Croom.

Cappamore 3 Murroe 1

Cappamore’s good run of form continued on Sunday afternoon as they recorded a good victory over Murroe. Alan Wallace, Mike Fitzgerald and James Bradshaw scored for the homesters. Liam Breen replied for Murroe.

Bruff Utd 0 St Pats 5

Bruff’s tale of woe continued at the weekend as they went down 5-0 to an in form St Pat’s side.

Brian Buston and Neil Carmody scored two apiece with Peter O’Sullivan also netting.

Caledonians 1 Hill Celtic 8

Hill Celtic ran riot in their game at Caledonians. Gary Kelly grabbed a hat trick, Lee Reddan scored twice with Jamie Leahy, Dara McNamara and Bobby Curtin completing the rout.
