Two men, 20s, have been arrested as part of an investigation which saw approximately 2kg of MDMA being seized in Co Mayo.
As part of intelligence-led operations, Revenue officers seized approximately 2 kg of MDMA (subject to analysis) with an estimated value of €120,000 in County Mayo.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Drugs Unit and Revenue’s Customs Service.
The MDMA was seized following a search, under warrant, of a premise in Castlebar.
A further 0.5 kg of suspected MDMA with an estimated value of €30,000 along with a small quantity of cash were also seized by Gardaí.
Two males, aged in their 20s, were arrested by An Garda Síochaná, and are currently detained at a Garda station in County Mayo under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
