Cyclist seeks help in locating bike which fell off car on Limerick motorway

This Raleigh bike fell off the back of a car on the M20

A CYCLIST whose bike fell off his car while he was travelling on the M20 motorway is seeking help in locating it.

The Raleigh motoribike was one of two which were attached to the rear of a red Dacia Sandero which was being driven by Maitiú Ó Coimín at around 9.30pm on Sunday.

“I was coming from Adare to Limerick, my own bike and a friend’s bike were on a rack at the back and my own bike was gone when I stopped to get diesel in Dooradoyle,” said Maitiú who lives and works in Dublin.

Gardai at Roxboro Road have confirmed they received reports of a bike in the slow lane of the motorway on Sunday night but that there was no sign of any bike when they arrived at the motorway.

“I am looking to get it back, there was only about 20 minutes from when I noticed it and the guards getting the call so I thought someone might have come along and just thrown it up onto the ditch to get it out of the way,” said Maitiú who lives in Dublin and uses the bike every day.

“I was down in Tralee for the weekend and I cycled out to Dingle and back so I use it all the time – it’s how I get around, it’s my mode of transport,” he told the Limerick Leader.

Anyone with information about the location of the missing bike is asked to contact Roxboro Road garda station at (061) 214340.
