JOHN Kiely was full of praise for the attitude shown by Limerick as the Shannonsiders claimed national honours with a 1-27 to 1-21 win over Cork in the Allianz Hurling League final.
After opening the scoring at the TUS Gaelic Grounds in the first minute, the winners led for the duration of the contest. However, Limerick had to shake off a period of Cork dominance late in the first half.
“We lost a bit of control in that last part of the first half,” Kiely admitted. “In fairness to Cork, you give them a smell of it and they're going to be all over you. Fair play to them. They got a lot of momentum in that last 12, 15 minutes of the first half. I think they brought the lead down to a goal and that put us on the back foot."
