Sadness after passing of young Limerick sportsman

Colin passed away at home surrounded by his family

TRIBUTES HAVE poured in for a young Limerick sportsman who has passed away. 

Colin O'Dwyer passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Corbally on Tuesday. 

The 21 year-old is late of St Munchin’s College and played soccer with Corbally AFC as well as rugby with Richmond RFC.

Richmond RFC paid tribute to the young man on Facebook and said everyone at the club was sad to hear of his passing. 

"Colin was a former underage player with the club. We would like to offer our deepest condolences to Sharon, Dermot, Dylan, Emma, Ciara, family & friends at this difficult time. May he rest in peace."

Corbally United also expressed their condolences online saying: "On behalf of all in Corbally United, I wish to extend our deepest sympathy at this very sad time.

"To Colin's parents, brothers, sisters, grandmother, girlfriend and all his extended family. Colin is fondly remembered as a very pleasant and outgoing young man. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Martin Gavin, Secretary, Corbally United."

A post on RIP.ie read: "Beloved son of Sharon and Dermot and dearest brother of Dylan, Emma and Ciara.

"Sadly missed by his loving girlfriend Katie, grandmother Rita (McCarthy), Dylan’s partner Megan, niece Riley, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and his many friends."

Colin will be reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate on Thursday, November 24 from 6pm to 7:30pm.

His funeral will arrive at St. John’s Cathedral on Friday for 12 noon Mass with burial afterwards in Mount St. Lawrence (Extension) Cemetery.
