KEN McDonald from Shannon Rowing Club Limerick won two gold medals on Saturday in the World Indoor Rowing Championships in the 1 minute event and the 1000m respective finals.

Ken broke his own World record of 366m which he had set a week earlier in the heats recording a New World Record of 373 meters for the 1 min timed event.

Ken weighed in at 74.8 kilograms having dropped seven kilograms since December in order to race at lightweight under 75kilograms.

His body fat was measured at 6.3%. Ken went on to win gold in the one-kilometre event in the same day setting a time of 3 minutes and seven seconds.

Ken is a Garda instructor at the the Garda training college. He is a an ex-international rower with seven world records and multiple World championships, on and off the water.
